When Lt. Col. Henry Blake was in charge of the 4077th he often refered to his wife, Lorraine. However, there were at least two episodes were he refers to his wife as Mildred. Now everone knows that Sherman Potter's wife was named Mildred. Does anyone know why these episodes have Henry refering to Mildred? One of such episode is the one where Henry is in the Officers Latrine when it goes kabloohy and he gets all out of whack. Well that's the poop as I know it, what are the answers? I know that most of you are saying, in the words of Gen. Mitchell "This is a press conference and the last thing I want to do is answer a bunch of questions" gene foster ihuxr!ewf

I'm not sure about the question with Henry's wife's name, but I have also noticed irregularites. One that comes to mind is Hawkeye's home town. Everyone knows it is Crab Apple Cove, Maine. However, on at least two shows Hawkeye refers to a different home state (I think it was Vermont). Can anyone verify this, or know of any others? Scott Erickson (sp?) asked about Hawkeye's hometown being in Vermont. IF it was ever stated in the television show that his home was NOT Crapapple Cove, ME THEN someone made a very BIG error. According to the novels by Richard Hooker, Hawkeye was born and raised in Crapapple Cove, a suburb(?) of Spruce Harbor. Apparently, Spruce Harbor is supposed to be on Penobscot Bay (Remember that name, anyone?) Of course, Henry's wife's name was usually Lorraine, but at least once, in a state of delirium, he talked to someone named Margret. 8-) -- -The Parker Hobbit a.k.a. Thomas R. One of the biggest inconsistancies of M*A*S*H was with the character of Radar. In the first few years of the show he was more "street wise" than portrayed in later episodes (especially after Harry Morgan showed up). In early shows Radar is shown smoking cigars and "picking up" nurses. For some reason they writers or producers decided to make Radar a naive kid. I'm not sure when the change occurred, but the difference is obvious. In answer to the question about Hawkeye's home town: I don't remember ever hearing anything of that sort (I am an extremely big M*A*S*H fan). Any more inconsistancies out there? - Bruce Beisel

The change in Radar that I had noticed was that he seemed to lose his "radar" abilities. In the movie and first couple of seasons, Radar always new whatever anyone was going to tell him to do. It was due to this feature that he earned the name radar -- he knew what was coming in advance. I always thought he came off as a naive kid, but with this most remarkable intuition. In later seasons, this feature was used occasionally but was a much less important facet of his character. Joel

One inconsistency is with Hawkeye's family. In one early show he mentions his mother and a sister. But in later shows his father has been a widower since Hawkeye was very young and Hawkeye is an only child.
