The song "Think of Laura" by Christopher Cross was done is memory of a woman named Laura Carter, an 18 year old woman who was killed in April 1982. Although the song was made very popular through use in General Hospital, it WAS NOT written for the character Laura Baldwin. Laura Carter was a student at Denison University here is Ohio, and a friend of Christopher Cross's girlfriend (at the time). She was killed in Columbus, Ohio while riding in a car with her parents. There was a gun battle about a block away, and a stray bullet hit her and killed her. Apparently when the song was written, Cross had no idea it would ever be used on General Hospital.
