Android * * * * (see it today) Best thing that I have seen in a while. Interesting to see a movie that is Science-Fiction, not Sci-Fi. The main character is (go ahead... take a guess) an android, Max. His creator is played by Klaus Kinski (yes, the father of Natassia). The story is based upon the development of the android, in what I will describe as a cross between the Questor Tapes and Soylent Green. And that is all I will say for the plot, because I don't want to ruin anything out of this great film. This film also has an interesting history. It was made on a low-budget (though not cheaply made) in America, though I am not sure about in Hollywood. It recieved great reviews by the critics, but upon trying to find a distributor, they couldn't, because of a lack of zooming space-fighters and super-turbo-lightning--laser-raster -blasters. It was however released on Europe, where it became a smash. It was brought back to America uncer "United Artists Classics", where it was shown in the artsy theatres, with great success. And it is now being released to local theatres. One question: I didn't notice the rating in the theatre, but the paper lists it as PG. However, there was "frontal nudity" in the movie... have the critics changed or did they chop the film. I hope not, for it adds significantly to the development in the film. Final word: See it... today. It is worth the time, and for me, I plan to see it a second time, soon. Enjoy! Walt Pesch AT&T Technologies ihnp4!ihuxp!wbpesch
