[net.tv] Captain Lou Albano, the music man

I once saw the Captain do a commercial on tv for the rock group
which he manages. It was a parody of that infernal ad which has run
5 times an hour every hour all night on every cable channel in
the world for the last 10 years. You know the one - it starts with
the actor who played the butler Mr. French on "Family Affair" (not
Sebastian Cabot; the second one) standing in front of a fireplace
listening to a phonograph, saying : "Do you recognize this melody?
Did you know that the theme of 'Stranger in Paradise' was based on
the 'Polyvetsian (sp?) Dances' from 'Prince Igor' by Borodin?", and
he then goes on to pitch a record which no one has ever bought
containing an excerpt from every famous piece of classical music
that everyone already owns a full-length recording of, anyway. The
Captain's version consisted of him in front of the fireplace listening
to the same music and asking : "Do you recognize this melody? Well, I
don't either and what's more, I don't care!", whereupon he smashes
the album and proceeds to extol the talents of his rock group. I was
glad to see someone give that commercial the treatment it deserves.
Incidentally, Captain Lou probably does recognize the melody - his
mother was a concert pianist (or so we are asked to believe).
