[net.tv] Commercials and other music

[Burp!]

About Maxwell House's "Percolator" music--is it just my imagination, or
is it a steal from Ferde Grofe's "Grand Canyon Suite"?

While we're on the subject, how about a law that all music used
commercially must have the written consent of the composer? A few pieces of
classical music have been used to excellent effect (who could argue with
the Lone Ranger's theme, or the scoring of "2001" [yes, I know Ligeti did
the latter, but that's another story]?), but some of the stuff done with
great classical music turns my stomach--it seems particularly unfair since
the composers aren't around to defend themselves. In addition to desecration
prevention, it might make more opportunities for living (and possibly starving)
composers.
