Two American scientists caught in a swirling maze of past and future ?tenses? in Americas biggest experiment, the Time Tunnel. I have come not to flame at this series, despite the fact that it had holes big enough to pilot a starsip through, nor to praise it. I just have ** one ** simple question that perhaps someone with a better memory then mine can answer. Did Tony and Doug (last names long forgotten) ever get back to the 20th century ? I know that one or the other made it back every few weeks, but something always was wrong, like they would come back and everyone would be frozen, or Tony would come back and Doug would need his help to prevent Ben Franklins assasination or something like that, but I want to know if the series had a legit ending. I believe that in the last episode, at the very end, they wind up on the Titanic, which is where they appeared in the VERY FIRST episode. Needless to say, this intense concept caused millions of children throughout the nation to think hard and look closely at the possibility of time and space phenomena, and is probably the cause of the massive drug explosion of the early 70's. Nope, Tony and Doug never got back and the end of the series. It got cancelled after 2 years, tops, maybe a season and a half. I used to love the show. Just for the heck of it, as I recall Tony was played by James Darren, and I can`t think of Doug`s real name. There were also 2 scientists in the show, and a military man, Dr. Heywood Kirk, who was played by character actor Whit Bissell (whose step-son or step-grandson was Brian Forster, who played Chris on the Partridge Family from its second season on when Jeremy Gelbwaks left the show. NOW THAT`S TRIVIA!) Anyway, one of the scientists was former Miss America Lee Meriwether. I can`t remember her characters name, though I think it was Lee something. The other scientist was a man, kinda big and bald, but I can`t remember his name or his character`s name. Not bad for right off the top of my head. I was really upset when Time Tunnel got cancelled. We watched it all the time, and used to play "Time Tunnel" by ourselves. That and "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea". Tom O`Connor

James Darren played Tony Newman, Robert Colbert played Doug Phillips, Lee Meriwether, Whit Bissell played Gen. Kirk, John Zaremba played Dr. Ray Swain and there was a little twit of a guy named Jerry in the later episodes. I guess he was a junior scientist or something. As I recall, he almost got sucked into a comet in one episode. Can anyone remember who played this guy? J. Barry Bulat ..ihnp4!hogpc!pegasus!barry

{} I remember a Time Tunnel episode that had me thinking back when I saw it about 15 years ago (I was about 10 years old). Our heros went back in time to December 6th, 1941. The place was Pearl Harbor. The family of one of the two guys had been stationed in Pearl Harbor at that time. Naturally that's who they spent the time with. Of course our heros knew about the coming events of the following day and tried to tell people about it but then for some reason they couldn't ... I remember seeing a recent movie starring Kirk Douglas with the same theme. The part that has me thinking was that one of the two guys was in the same time and place with himself as a child. Totally threw me off. After thinking long hours about all the ramifications of such an encounter I decided that I didn't want to watch the show any more! H.
