[net.tv] Notes on Hill Street Blues & V

moriarty@uw-june.UUCP (05/04/84)

Latest Hill Street -- Good stuff:

1) Belker & Howard's opening "gambit".

2) Gang theme... the scene as the ex-gang liason is told to "beat it", and
the riot afterward (night scenes in HSB are always good).

3) Jesus is always good... one look at those eyes, and you believe he could
mastermind just about anything.

Latest Hill Street -- Bad stuff:

Is it possible that, as a tie-in with "V: The final Battle", that Joyce has
been replaced by one of the aliens. If I have to listen to one more
psuedo-Est-relationship-I-Gotta-Be-Meeee speech on this show I will be
mortified. They really seem to be running out of original stuff... and
Joyce is such an unsympathetic character, and is played by such a poor
actress, that she really is getting pretty much of a dead weight.

Final word on V: last year's shows will not be repeated.

Say, trivia fans, did anyone notice how the ads for a new NBC show, "You are
The Jury", match a voice-over parody in the movie "Tunnelvision"? I think
the same announcer did both. The TunnelVision one went:

A delicatesson (sp?) owner serves his own tongue to save money. You
decide his fate on "You, The Jury", tonight, CST.
