Ya' think the cable companies use stinkin' VHS machines? The most common new equipment found at such operations for running movies is Type C one inch helical. The standard tape that most people use on these machines is one hour max. It is possible to buy thinner tape and get 90 minutes, but most people stick with 60 since the thinner tape often causes tape transport problems. Older operations sometimes still use 2 inch quad-type tape. Maximum run time for these is one hour, period. The budget operations sometimes use 3/4 inch U-MATIC cassettes. The standard run time for these is 60 minutes. Once again, 90 minute cassettes are available, but they fail to work reliably in about 90% of the U-MATIC units in the field, so one hour remains the standard. --Lauren--
