<> This question has been gnawing at me for awhile, so I thought I'd post it to the net for all the TV trivia fans to see if anyone has the answer (I DON'T!). Charles Haid (sp?) currently plays Renko on Hill Street Blues. Before that (early to mid 70's) he played either a police detective or a private eye on a TV show where his partner was the lead guy from Taxi (I can't believe I'm blocking on this guy's name, too. Judd Hirsch, maybe). The series ran somewhere around the time that Petrucelli (starring Barry Newman) ran. Anyway, with these few pointers, I'm hoping someone can tell me the name of the series. Thanks, Dave K. ..!ihnp4!ihuxn!dak

Haid was the one who was against Hurt's experi- ments all along. Bob Balaban was the one who played Hurt's right-hand man. --- jayembee (Jerry Boyajian, DEC, Maynard, MA) UUCP: {decvax|ihnp4|allegra|ucbvax|...}!decwrl!dec-rhea!dec-akov68!boyajian ARPA: boyajian%akov68.DEC@DECWRL.ARPA

You are correct. Charles Haid starred in a series prior to Hill Street Blues as a sidekick to Judd Hirsch. The series was called "The Law," and was a poor serialization of a reasonably good TV miniseries. He was billed in that series as "Sid Haid" for some reason I don't know. That, however, was not Haid's first series. I remember him distinctly as playing the brother to Ann Meara (of Stiller and Meara) in a series whose name *I* don't remember. (It didn't last very long.)
