Are there any fans out there of the old Dick Van Dyke show? With all the fan clubs being formed around some of the old classic situation comedies (The Honeymooners, etc.), I'm suprised that I haven't heard any trivia questions or club information on Rob, Laura, Buddy and Sally. Any Petrie fanatics out there? Would love to exchange some trivia on the show about the characters and/or episodes. Any takers?

I enjoy the adventures of Bob, Laura, Buddy, and Sally today as much as I did many years ago. With people's obsessions with the television media I would be surprise to find out that such a fan club did not already exist. There is a club for Mary Tyler Moore, but I'm not familar with any details. Here's some easy trivia questions: What was Richie's middle name? Why is it what it is? - Miriam Amos decvax!miriam

R.O.S.E.B.U.D. It's the initials of all the relatives who wanted the Ritchie to be named after them. -Ron

Sorry it's taken so long to reply to some of the great DVD trivia I've received. The system problem has been fixed so it won't take so long next time. George Moore sent me some great questions: 1. What was the name of Sally's cat? Buddy's dog? The name of the mangy mutt Rob & Laura took to the beauty parlor? That question has me stumped. I know Sally's cat was named Mr. Something. Anybody else know? 2. How many times has Rob been in jail? I think three times. Can anybody confirm this? 3. What was on the back of Rob's jacket when he had "O1' Red"? I'll take a wild guess and say that it had to do with the beloved Tarantula he bought that Laura got a scratch on. 4. What was the name of the Don Rickles' character (he appeared as a thief)? I believe his name was Lionel Phelps. Am I right? 5. The Petrie's home address? How about 234 Bonnie Meadow Rd., New Rochelle, NY? A special note to W. Rivers: There is a book out now called "The Dick Van Dyke Show - Anatomy of a Classic". You might consider getting that for your sister's Christmas gift. Dan Doyle sent me a good question: What floor was Rob, Buddy, and Sally's office on? I believe they were on the third floor, just high enough for Rob to spot the flying saucer. My turn for trivia: 1. What was the significance of the walnuts and what happened to Rob's thumbs in the episode about the visitors from the planet Twilo? What was Danny Thomas's character named? 2. What was the name of Allen Brady's secretary? His wife's name? 3. What is Ritchie's middle name? 4. Where did Rob grow up? 5. The name of Jerry and Millie's boy? 6. Buddy's wife's name? 7. Who is Big Max Calvada? 8. Why did Rob stay awake for days and what happened to him immediately after? 9. Why did Rob and Laura once think that Buddy and Sally were having an affair? 10. Who said "You may have the world at your feet, but that don't stop the corns from hurtin'?" Let me know your answers. Marilyn Ashley
