[net.tv] UFO

A number of people have given very complete answers to the question
on UFO, so I'll just fill in a few more details.

UFO ran just 26 episodes. I seem to remember reading somewhere that it
was shown on NBC late at night in the early '70s, except for the episode
"Timelash" that was censored out. I haven't seen it in some time, other
than at conventions, but a movie version was syndicated recently with a
group of other "movies" condensed from Anderson shows. It was called
"Invasion UFO" and included parts of three episodes (Identified, Reflections
in the Water, and Computer Affair), cut together rather strangely. The two
novelizations were given the somewhat garish titles of "Flesh Hunters" and
"Sporting Blood". Both were written by Robert Miall and together covered a
combination of 7 episodes.

You're right, Commander Straker was played by Ed Bishop. The other main
characters were Col. Paul Foster, played by Michael Billington, Col. Alex
Freeman and Col. Virginia Lake.
I loved those cars, always wanted one, unfortunately the doors were faked.

UFO is one of my favorite series. I wish that, when Gerry Anderson wanted
to make another season of it, Lew Grade hadn't told him to make something bigger
to sell in the U.S. - the result was Space:1999 (which I also like but UFO
was better).
