Recently someone posted his favorite TV shows for the current season. Since then, many people have done the same. Before this gets out of hand, I suggest a poll of the net's favorite shows of the current season. So, please MAIL me your votes for your top five TV shows of the CURRENT season. Make sure you rank them one to five, each person's top ranked show will get five points, the second ranked gets four points and so on, down to each fifth ranked show which gets one point. Send your votes to ihnp4!bentley!dxa before Friday November 2nd, and I'll post them the week after that. And later in the season, say around February, I'll take another poll and see how the rankings have changed. REMEMBER, MAIL YOUR VOTES, DO NOT POST THEM!! The purpose of this poll is to avoid the type of posting which lists the names of TV shows without any comments. If you have a comment, observation or discussion as to why you like (or dislike) a show, please do post that to the net. With that in mind . . . My favorite show for the last couple of years has been Hill Street Blues(HSB). Its nice to see that this year is another excellent one for that show. It continues to have a high quality of writing, directing, acting and best of all character development. Like a daytime soap, as you get to know the characters, you start rooting for good things to happen to your favorites. The difference is that in HSB, the interactions of the characters is usually very believable, and you don't have great fluctuations in character development. I gave up on daytime soaps since they kept changing the `good guys' into `bad guys' and vice versa. HSB also continues to address topics of human interest. Issues that must be dealt with in real life. Among those we have recently seen on HSB include an electric chair execution, and a Rookie Cop who committed suicide after being hazed by other Rookies. Not always fun and happy, but definitely thought provoking, and worthwhile viewing. If you have never tried it, I'd recommend watching Hill Street Blues. Don't just watch it once. Its a continuing story, and it takes a few episodes for you to get to know the characters. But do give it a good try. Of course HSB isn't perfect, but what is? But I won't go through its shortcomings, this article is long enough, I'll save it for another time. If you've read this far, thanks for reading what I had to say.
