[net.tv] The Brady Bunch and The Brady Kids

okamoto@ucbvax.ARPA (Jeff Okamoto) (11/06/84)

Everybody remembers The Brady Bunch, right? Well how many of you
remember The Brady Kids, an animated cartoon with just the Brady
kids plus some assorted animals. It was really a hokey show and the
only reason that I watched it was because of the songs at the end
that they would sing.

So here's the trivia question: What were the words to the theme songs
for both of these Brady shows?

zarth@drutx.UUCP (CovartDL) (11/08/84)

These are the words to the theme song as best I remember:

Here's the story of a lovely lady,
who was bring up three very lovely girls.
All of them had hair of gold like thier mother
        the youngest one in curls.

Here's the story of a man named Brady,
who was busy with three boys of his own.
*** All of them enjoyed their life together ***
        yet they were all alone.

'till the one day when this lady met this fellow,
and they knew it was much more than a hunch.
That this crew must somehow form a family
thats the way we all became the Brady Bunch.

The Brady Bunch, the Brady Bunch,
thats the way we alll became the Brady Bunch.

*** I am not very confident of this line ***

I am not sure wether it goes paragraph 1 then 2 or 2 then 1. I think I have
it in the right order though I won't gaurentee the words.

Oh, what the heck.

> From: zarth@drutx.UUCP (CovartDL)

> *** All of them enjoyed their life together ***

It was "They were four men living all together".

While I'm up, might as well post the Brady Kids lyrics.

Here's our sisters, now meet our brothers,
Greg's a leader and a good man for the job,
There's another boy by the name of Peter,
The youngest one is Bob.

Meet our sisters, they're all quite pretty,
First there's Marcia with her eyes a sparklin' blue,
Then there's Jan the middle one who's really groovy,
And sister Cindy too.

Let's get set now for action and adventure,
As we see things we never saw before,
We'll meet Mop-Top (*) and Ping and Pong the pandas,
And Marlon who makes more tricks by the ball (???)

The Brady Kids, the Brady Kids,
Here's the world of your friends the Brady Kids.

(*) For some reason, that doesn't sound right. In the regular show, the dog's
name was Tiger. I'm not sure but wasn't the Archies' dog named Mop-Top? (No,
I just remembered, the Archies' dog was named Hot Dog.)

MORE TRIVIA:

If you're really moby, or can admit to watching these shows (after all, we were
all young once), you can quote the lyrics to:
Everything's Archie
Sabrina the Teenage Witch
Groovy Goolies
--
Baby tie your hair back in a long white bow ...
Meet me in the field, behind the dynamo ...

Also, I think it's "group" not "crew" and "they" not "we" in the last few lines

Zarth Arn's "Brady Bunch" lyrics were all correct except for the line he
said he wasn't sure about. The second verse is

Here's the story of a man named Brady
Who was busy with three boys of his own.
They were four men living all together,
Yet they were all alone.

I don't know the Brady Kids theme, but here's the Brady Bunch
theme:

It's the story of a lovely lady
who was bringing up three very lovely girls
all of them had hair of gold, like their mother,
the youngest one in curls.

It's the story of a man named Brady
who was busy with three boys of his own
They were four men living all together
yet they were all alone.

Till the one day when the lady met this fellow
and they knew that it was much more than a hunch
that this group must somehow form a family
that's the way they* all became the Brady Bunch

The Brady Bunch, The Brady Bunch
That's the way they* became the Brady Bunch.

*In later seasons, when the kids sang the theme, the
"they" was "we."

*** YOUR MESSAGE ***

The best version of the Brady Bunch theme is on the Weird Al Yankovic album
that also includes "Eat It" and "King of Suede." It's done to the tune of
"The Safety Dance" by Men Without Talent.

Of course, we're all aware that the lyrics to "The Brady Bunch" can be
sung to the tune of "The Safety Dance." Thanks to Wierd Al Yankovic
for demonstrating that if you take two dumb songs and mix them together
you get another dumb song.

I don't want to have to see

What is the title of Weird Al Yankovic's album?
My group has been looking for the words to Eat It for some time.
Thanks for the help --

Weird Al has two LP's out. The first is called "Weird Al in 3-D" or
something like that. The second one is called simply "Weird Al".
The first has the parodies of Beat It, The Safety Dance, Our Love's
in Jeapordy, King of Pain, and The Eye of the Tiger.
The second one parodies Micky, I Love Rock and Roll, My Sharona,
Stop Dragging My Heart Around, and Another One Bites the Dust.

Have fun.

How can one resist? (Doubtless many ideas will come to mind :->)

	Betty's here, Veronica too;
	CM	Am	FM	G7
	Reggie's here (one measure pause)

And here comes Jughead, and Hot Dog too!
	    CM Am G7 CM

	Oh, everything's Archie
	    G7 CM
So come on, let's go, with the Archie show.
