**************************NEW MESSAGE****************************************
To encourage more games, I would be interested in a new formula for
determining position following a loss. It seems to be a little harsh
to lose 20 places if you lose to someone 20 places below you. People
would definitely think twice before accepting a challenge from a low
ranked player. Id be interested in opinions and suggestions. For instance
any loss might be a drop of only one position. Or perhaps a weighted scheme:
ie lose to a person 1 rank lower....lose 1 position
2 2
3-4 3
5-8 4
9-16 5 etc
Perhaps this should be implemented for victories by a lower ranked player also
Right now I'm leaning towards one rank drop by a loss and weighted rank gain
for a victory over a higher ranked opponent as the best environment.
This should favor the people who play a lot of games yet not drastically
effect those playing only a few. I will listen to comments for about a week
before I make a final decision. However all the initial ranking games that
I have presently started will continue as before.
