 >Since everyone is stuck on "WORST SCI-FI" flicks, I thought
 >I'd mention one that I really liked.

If you really liked it, it isn't "WORST SCI-FI". At least for you.

 >Anyone remember "The Colossal Man"?

You are talking about the Bert I. Gordon film THE AMAZING COLOSSAL MAN.
It is one of Gordon't best, but that doesn't say very much. Not really
very good overall.

 >About a man who survives an atomic blast and
 >starts growing larger and larger--eventually he reaches 60'
 >tall... Then these
 >scientists (one of whom was his main squeeze, of course)

Not the way I remember it. They just explain it to her.

 >try to find a cure and rig up a huge hypodermic needle which
 >they thrust into his foot.
 >

In these days of thinner disposable hypodermic needles we tend to
forget how terrifying and painful shots were in the fifties. This
scene, and the conclusion where he picks up the needle and throws it
like a dart right though one of the scientists is by far the most
haunting of the film.

 >Some silly parts, but I've always liked this one.

Te gustibus non disputandum.

 >(He wore some really cute briefs if I remember correct.) :-)

Te gustibus non disputandum.

The sequel with another actor in the part of Glenn Manning, the
colossal man, was called WAR OF THE COLOSSAL BEAST.
