[This is a genuine question!!!]
I vaguely remember a cartoon (saturday morning lineup, late 60's)
whose main characters were:
Col'n Bleep ( a stick figure with a wheel for feet [or was he
permanently mounted on a unicycle?] and a bubble head)
He could fly, and made bleeping sounds.
Squeak: a wood puppet (who moved on his own [a la Pinocchio] and
squeaked by pulling his head up and down).
Scratch: a caveman who scratched his back with a club.
The show was narrated since the characters couldn't speak.
They lived on a crescent shaped island under a bubble with a door on the top
through which Col'n Bleep would fly (towing the others).
WHAT WAS THIS SHOW?????? DOES ANYONE REMEMBER ANYTHING???
I have a book "KID'S TV - The First 25 years" by Stuart Fischer.
It has some good entries and really jogged my memory on some series, but
I notice many omissions besides the above, such as:
Battle of the Planets (originally Gatchaman from Japan)
Speed Racer (also from Japan)
Astro Boy (also from Japan)
Kimba The White Lion (also...)
Courageous Cat (& Minute Mouse)
Gigantor
Felix the Cat
and DODO
I remember the words to DODO were:
DODO the kid from outer space,
DODO can go most anyplace
with antennas on his ears
and propellers on his feet
he's a science fiction pixie from a strange atomic race
DODO the kid from outer space
DODO!!!!!!
Shows like Flipper, Skippy The Bush Kangaroo weren't included, but
the book lists mainly Saturday-morning lineup stuff (so how
did Soupey Sales get included?)
Happy viewing!
