Maybe some of you have noticed that there haven't been any full shots of Diane lately. We only see her behind the bar these days. That's because Shelley Long is pregnant and it's starting to get obvious, even when she's hiding behind the bar. Take a good look and you can tell. It's seems that the writers weren't willing to make Diane a single parent or change her image with a pregnancy out of wedlock. I couldn't image Diane and her shrink boyfriend having a kid anyway. Carla, on the other hand, is going to have another kid, and who knows who the father is for that one! Sharon Badian

I heard that they didn't want to have two pregnant women on the show at the same time so they're "hiding" Diane. Also, there was an episode you apparently missed when Carla met the man of whose dreams she was (how's that for a convoluted sentence?). In the end, she decided they weren't meant for each other (he being "well educated" and all), and he disappeared, and has not resurfaced since. She was left pregnant which didn't seem to bother her for longer than 1 episode. I guess with 5 (?) kids already, what's another one. My guess is that Diane will take Coach's place behind the bar, at least for the remainder of this season. That will keep her hidden, but still there. ...bob garmise...at&t bell labs, columbus...
