For those that don't have access to Dangermouse on Nickelodeon, I'd like to
point out that they are starting to make this series available on tape for
your VCR. The first tape (with, I believe, 6 episodes) is now available,
and you can scream at your video shop to get it in. I haven't seen it yet,
but I'm hoping to track it down Real Soon Now.
The first of two tapes of shows from Police Squad is out, too. Only six
episodes were even shown of this satire of police shows by the people who
brought you Airplane. Three are available on this tape, the other three
will be available on a future tape. The jokes are sometimes too obvious to
be truly funny, but if you like sick humor or HATE dragnet, you have to
track these down. (~It was 10.22PM when I got to the elevator-- my boss was
already on the scene...~ ~It took me three weeks to find her apartment--
she had neglected to leave me her address~).
Seeing Police Squad make it to tape is, I hope, the early signs of a much
needed trend. There are a LOT of good TV shows that didn't last long enough
to make it to syndication-- in the old days they would have been gone
forever, but hopefully this will allow them a chance to be seen again.
Anyone for a set of 'quark' tapes?
