I tuned into the last hour (I'm not sure *how* I stood it that long) of the 2-hour premiere of this new lady detective series. It was the worst I've seen in a long time. It might as well have been called "Wonder Woman" for all the credibility it carried. It had the requisite chase scene through snowy (Chicago, I think) streets. The bad guy jumps on the elevated train just as it takes off, and our heroine races through the streets beating the train to the next stop (totaling several cars that have the bad taste to get in her way). She races up the steps, but the doors close before she can get in, so she grabs on and rides the side of the train for until the next stop. The scene includes passing an oncoming train, and going through a tunnel. (She finally gets her man). In the hour I watched it, she offed three men without blinking an eye. (This doesn't count any injuries which may have resulted from the number of cars totalled in the chase scene.) On top of all this, it was blatantly sexist. One of the first scenes I saw, she is reminiscing about a relationship (a fellow cop that was killed in the line of duty, I think, and that's her motivation for solving the case - a ring of drug smugglers/dealers). Cut to a shower curtain, and voices : She: "oh, don't do that"....well, you get the idea. The shower curtain opens, and she has her arms crossed in front of her, and slides down the wall, obviously in sorrow. Now, perhaps this is to add a human touch to her character, but why a shower scene? Another time, her superior is telling her to get off the case (there's been a bit of bad publicity because of the bodies littering the city from the case), and he says " are you going to be a good girl?" AAArgh! For my money, this one is much worse than Charlie's Angels ever was. Moira Mallison tektronix!moiram
