[net.tv] Hill Street: Who Stays? who Goes? etc.

I agree, bring back the OLD Jesus Martinez. But then agian, they haven't had
*any* gang related stories for a long time. Anyone remember the first time
Furrillo had a gang leaders summit when the President was coming to the Hill?

Ray Cayatano - I could survive without him. I hope if someone has to go that he
gets his Captaincy and quits wimpering about it. He placed 4th on the
captain's exam and is now 1st on the list. We still need one more captain to
kick the bucket (or defect to Canada or whatever).

How can they be talking about adding a new character (Dennis Franz) when
they're getting rid of characters? And a dead character at that.

For those Hill Street fans who haven't been watching since January of '81:

Originally LaRue was the alcoholic of the show. He once blew a stakeout because
he was in a liquor store when he was supposed to be backing up Belker. Anyway,
one of my favorite episodes was when Furillo gave LaRue an ultimatum which was
that he either go to AA or get fired. The episode ends at an AA meeting when a
very down and out LaRue stands and says, "My name is John and I'm an alcoholic"
like they do at AA meetings. At this point the camera homes in on the front
row where Furrillo turns around in his seat and says, "Hi J.D.." Then of course
the screen goes black and the familiar "produced by Steven Bochco" appears.
This is the first time that the audience realizes the truth about Furillo and
is one of the reasons this show is so great!

And as for saab@abnji (d. wilmot) and his >Who cares?

*I* care and obviously a lot of other people do too. I say lets have more
discussions about Hill Street.

And one last question - How come Dennis Mahoney is still the assistant chief
after he went on camera and exposed Daniels during the mayoral election
campaign? I'm sure Daniels could find a way to get rid of him.

Just a ramblin',

Steve Herring
