I had the misfortune to tune in OCEAN QUEST last night. For those of you who escaped the show, it's your basic 'Under water nature film'. But for some unknown reason, the HAD to have cheescake in the show also. For this show, the 'sex appeal' was in the form of Miss Universe, a blond bimbo of unknow origin. This week's show had our intrepid scientists following a group of humpback whales from their breeding grounds, to their northern 'wintering' grounds. The purpose of this quest was to try to figure out the whales's 'song'. If Jaques Costeau were dead, he would be spinning in his grave! Half of the shots were of Miss Universe, either grinning at the camera, wearing a tight wet suit, or crying over a dead whale. There were several 'Made For TV' emergencies involving our heroine that almost shot my pulse rate up a couple of beats. The 'valid' information that I managed to find in the show was informative and interesting. If you took away all of the dramatics, you would have had a good half hour show. The bottom line: Put 'nature' shows back on PBS, where the producers don't feel thay have to make the show 'entertaining' as well as informative! -- ------------------------------------------------------------------- Dave Lowrey "To vacillate or not to vacillate, that is the question.... ....or is it?" ...!(<sun,cbosgd,ihnp4}!amdahl!dwl10 [ The opinions expressed <may> be those of the author and not necessarily those of his most eminent employer. ]
