[net.tv] Need info on the Disney Channel...

djg@busch.UUCP (Joe Guilliams) (09/09/85)

Our cable company has offered free viewing of "The Disney Channel"
for the past four days in an effort to get people to subscribe.
They've had some excellent shows for kids and our daughter (2 years)
loves the cartoons and Disney movies. We've been enjoying it the
past four days also.

My question is this. Does anyone out there have the Disney channel
and, if so, is the programming really this great or are we just get-
ting bombarded with special stuff designed to "hook" you ? The cable
company is offering free connection if you subscribe in the next 2
weeks.

Thanks in advance,

Yes, they have been bombarding you some, but it would honestly be the last
channel to which I would unsubscribe! I have a 2 1/2 year old girl, a 1 year
old boy and a 3 week old boy. Our daughter LOVES the channel, sings all
the songs, talks about the characters on "Pooh's Corner" and "Dumbo's Circus".
We currently get HBO, Cinemax, and the Disney channels. The Disney channel
would honestly be the last one I would drop. It is HARD to find programming
that children can watch. They have many animal type movies and shows, too.
She loves watching the animals. And watch out when "DTV" comes on.
Both of the older ones start dancing. My wife enjoys the movies.
I've liked seeing the animated movies, and some of the "odd" old disney movies.
My wife likes those more than I.

They have been hitting you with a number of good movies in the past four
days, but remember that most (all?) have been shown during this summer.
They're trying to show you what you have been missing over the past few months.
You can always cancel if you don't feel it is giving you your money's worth.

I subscribed to Disney about three months ago and I would NOT be without
it again. I never have to worry when my children (5.5, 2.5 and a baby)
turn it on. The level of entertainment is always high. Besides I get
a kick out of watching the boy (2.5) wave "Bye-Bye" to Dumbo's Circus.

I currently have the Disney Channel and enjoy it very much. Most of
my viewing is at night (after 6pm).

Disney did not change their schedule much during that freebie viewing.
They changed a movie one night to be "Old Yeller." But the daily
schedules remained the same.

As far as good viewing, they have the usual Disney classics plus an
assortment of series (WW of Disney, Still the Beaver, etc). Also,
each month they show a "special feature" such as the Sword & the Stone,
Robin Hood, Pete the Dragon, etc.

Hope this helps,
