[net.tv] Twilight Zone "debut"

<bug line>

Saw the first episode of the new Twilight Zone.

Hmm.

I want this series to succeed (I'm a fan of the original "zone") but was less
than impressed with the first episode. I admire Harlan Ellison's writing, but
the screen adaptation of "Shatterday" was a disappointment; Bruce Willis (sp?)
(who is quite good in "Moonlighting") seemed shallow and lifeless, possibly due
to bad direction, and the whole story seemed much too long and drawn-out.

The second story was better, even though the ending was obvious almost from the
beginning.

Even the opening credits were lackluster; more reminiscent of "Night Gallery"
than the original "zone".

I hope it gets better, but I'm not setting my hopes too high.

Looking forward to "Amazing Stories"' debut tonight.

The REALLY silly part is that in the second story, the entire story
(except for the VERY end) was taken directly from an old TZ episode
("A Kind of Stopwatch"). Unfortunately, the new version didn't even
have the character development (remember the obnoxious character
who kept saying, "You think about that now!") of the original.

I predict this show is in for a fairly rapid demise.
