[net.tv] Have you seen the Western Airlines ad with Shatner and Nimoy yet?

moriarty@fluke.UUCP (Jeff Meyer) (09/30/85)

It's quite cute -- for those of you on the east coast, I'll give a synopsis:

Opens up with Shatner at the window seat inside an airliner, and Nimoy walks
from the rear (from the little Vulcan's room?) and sits down beside him.
Both are wearing Hawaiin shirts, so we can assume they are heading to Hawaii
(is THAT where ST IV is being shot?) or a frat party.

NIMOY: A woman back there asked me if I was flying the plane.

SHATNER: What'd you tell her?

NIMOY: [Grins] I'm not the Captain!

[Both chuckle]

[Stewardess wheels a huge platter with a steaming, bubbling tropical ham
next to them.]

NIMOY: Why does that look familiar?

SHATNER: I think we've been there...

Cut to outside of a Western plane, and voice-overs

SHATNER:	Western, the only way to fly.
NIMOY: What a novel concept.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen...

"....and the far-flung Isles of Langerham."

Ham? I thought it was a volcano... And is this a ST reference?
If so, I don't get it. A mountain on Vulcan perhaps? Or are they
returning from Hawii????

I was saying that when I saw T.J. Hooker...
