From: Henry Kautz <henry> Just having seen #2 of the new twilight zone series, I was suprised that the very best episode of all the new drama series was the 5-minute long "short feature" about the women factory worker hooked up to the dream machine! Why the best? Because ALL the other stories (twilight zone, amazing, and hitchcock) have basically had 5-minute plots, but were padded out to 30 minutes! Good fantasy BEGINS with an impossible or unusual event, and then DOES SOMETHING with it. That is, any decent sf short story has a plot which is more than a simple dragging out of the original setting. But the folks at the tv networks haven't realized that; so yes, the stories are boring, predictable, and unsatisfying after about the first few minutes. (Gee, and I bought 3 new blank cassette tapes to record all the shows... Oh, well, back to shelling out $5 at the theatre....)
