Someone in a previous note commented on the "death's head" fat cat in the
Miami Vice premiere this season. The character was played by Julian Beck,
who, with his wife, Judith Malina, started an influential avant-garde
theatre in New York City called the Living Theatre. He just died a few
weeks ago, of cancer, which undoubtedly contributed to his grim visage in
the show.
