In fact, I recall having read once about just such a game. I don't
recall whether it was a British peer or a wealthy international playboy
who offered the challenge, but he challenged the world champion at the
time to a game ``by my rules''. The champion accepted, figuring that
whatever variation was going to be thrown at him couldn't be too bizarre
that he couldn't figure it out on the fly and dismantle the pigeon.
Pieces contained alcohol in approximate proportion to their actual value --
the pawns were shot glasses of liqueurs, bishops and knights were wine
glasses, rooks were tumblers of liquor -- the challenger's queen was a
fifth of Napoleon brandy. After a few moves, the challenger effectively
ended the game by aggressively checking the champion with his queen in
such a fashion that the only effective counter was to take the queen!!!
The champion succumbed (in the game, anyway) in relatively short order
thereafter.

The scenerio described where the wealthy challenger sacked his queen
to the champion in the effort to win the game after the champion
became "tipsy" was part of a movie I saw a number of years ago.
