[net.tv] Dreamchild/Monty Python --> Gavin Millar... Coincidence, or what?

moriarty@fluke.UUCP (Jeff Meyer) (12/23/85)

When I went to see Dreamchild the other evening, I noticed during the very
good opening credits (Jim Henson and his boys have gone quite beyond
"puppeteering") that the director's name was Gavin Millar. The name
bothered me all the way home -- where had I heard it before. And then I
remembered an old Monty Python sketch (on their "Monty Python's previous
Record" album) where they have a very fast-talking theatre critic (played by
John Cleese) reviewing a play about trains, introduced as "Gavin
Millarrrrrrrrrrrr".

Was Gavin Millar, the movie director, a theatre critic before directing?
Was he the butt of a MP sketch due to his speed in speech? Or did Terry
Gilliam really direct this picture under an alias? Or, more likely, is this
all a coincidence manufactured by a weary brain? I was at a party tonight
where I was talking to seals and otters; no walruses or carpenters (couple
"artisans", though...).

"If you are beginning to doubt what I am saying, you are
                 probably hallucinating."
