References: We call it bughouse chess, and it can be played on more than two boards; I've heard of 8-player teams. things get pretty wild when your teammate on board 1 starts screaming that he needs a knight within 30 seconds. Pieces tend to fly through the air a lot. Bughouse can also be played by two plyers on one board. A captured piece is replaced at once and belongs to the opponent again. The trick is to bury your opponent's pieces where they can't be redeveloped. A well-played game ends in a draw with bth sides unable to develop anything. More often, someone wins. Rules about pawn promotion, pawns on the first rank, and bishops of the same color vary locally. There is a fourth way to get out of check -- capture a piece and interpose t. - Toby Robison (not Robinson!) allegra!eosp1!robison decvax!ittvax!eosp1!robison princeton!eosp1!robison
