[Who is Number 1? You are Number 6.] Our local MPT (Maryland Public Television) station , channel 22, has just completed broadcasting the 17 episodes of The Prisoner. However, the order of broadcast of the episodes differs from an earlier broadcast on another PBS station, several years ago. This causes me to ask, what is the correct (original) order of broad- cast of the 17 episodes of The Prisoner? For those who care, I have attached a list of the episode titles, in the order they were recently broadcast on MPT, along with the order they were broadcast earlier. I do not know which, if ei- ther is the correct order. Any ideas? MPT Earlier Episode Episode Name Episode Number Number 1 Arrival 1 2 Chimes of Big Ben 2 3 A, B, and C 3 4 Free For All 4 5 Schizoid Man 10 6 The General 11 7 Many Happy Returns 5 8 Dance of the Dead 13 9 Do Not Forsake Me, Oh My Darling 9 10 It's Your Funeral 12 11 Checkmate 14 12 Living in Harmony 7 13 A Change of Mind 6 14 Hammer into Anvil 8 15 The Girl Who Was Death 15 16 Once Upon a Time 16 17 Fall Out 17 "Be seeing you."

Thats right, as the concluding episode. Of course this is not what McGoohan wanted. LIVING IN HARMONY was intended to be episode number 15. This makes sense since the man who ruined the experiment, 38(?), is punished in FALL OUT. But when the 17 episodes are delivered to stations LIVING IN HARMONY is labelled as the last episode to broadcast. And usually the error is not caught, which really detracts from the series. Next time anyone sees DO NOT FORSAKE... take a look at the address on the letter the doctor takes out to check #6's handwriting. The address is to Penryndeudrath Road. (sp) Penryndeudrath is the location in Briton of the Hotel Portmeirion where the series was shot. The hotel was built by Clough Williams-Ellis who describes the construction in detail in his autobiography entitled ARCHITECT ERRANT. This is a very good book. Does anyone know if there are any books specifically about the series? If there are please post them to net.tv or mail the list to: Robert Moulton Box 80, 139 University Ave, West Waterloo, Ontario N2L 3E1 : "Be seeing you."
