At the Allentown [Pa.] Chess Club, we used to play what you call "doublechess" a lot. We always called it "Siamese," or (less formally) "Bughouse." It's a great game. Actually, the name "Bughouse," as some of the people in the club liked to call Siamese, is incorrect when applied to this game. As I understand it, Bughouse proper is a game played between two players, and in which no piece ever leaves the board. When you capture an opponent's piece, you put it back onto the board anywhere you want. Playing for smothered mate is fun in this game. Any other Siamese fans out there? And has anyone else played Bughouse proper?
