We used to have a DM2500 with a footpedal connected in parallel with the edit
key. I never could simultaneously strike a command character and the foot
pedal; there was always too much delay in the path from my brain to my
foot, and I was always pressing the pedal down in time for the next character
I typed from the keyboard. The resulting text wasn't exactly what I wanted.
