Movement takes 1/4 of editing time and, thus, should be easily typed,
and easily learned. How often have EMACS users typed ^W when they
wanted ^E, ^[ for ^P, and ^B for ^N for ^V for ^M? These commands are
easily learned (being mnemonic) but not so easily typed (Easily
misstyped with annoying to disastrous results). The hjkl movement
commands lose because they are not home keys (not easly typed). Hujk
is (in my mind) the right idea but still they are not home keys. The
~Right~ keys are jikl (j left, i up, k down, l right) They are both
home keys, and positionaly mnemonic. I believe that jikl would not be
misstyped since they are home keys on the right hand and they are at
least as easly learned as hjkl and pnfb. But Control-keys or special
function keys are still too cumbersome for something as important as
movement. Having never seen (much less used) a mouse I can only guess
at its usefulness. Perhaps since deletion comes next in frequency it
could be included, with positioning, as the function of a mouse.
