CHI '83 Conference
Human Factors in Computing Systems
Sponsored jointly by ACM SIGCHI and The Human Factors Society
This conference will focus on the presentation of empirical findings
and theory related to usability in interactive systems. Papers which
address human factors issues in software, hardware, and documentation
are welcomed. Papers which relate to the following topics are
particularly encouraged.

Interface Evaluation Methodology
User Cognitive Models
Programmer Performance Measurement
INTERFACE AND LANGUAGE DESIGN
Human Factors Issues in Object-based Programming
Graphics-based interaction
Voice Interaction
Novel Interface Interaction
Novel Language Design
Application of Intelligent Systems to Enhance Usability
SYSTEM PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
Usability of Programming Language
Critical, Formal Evaluations of Working Systems
Organizational Impact of Interactive Systems
Interested authors should submit four copies of the paper by May 1,
1983. Papers should be approximately 2500 words in length and should
contain an abstract of 100-150 words. All papers will be reviewed
and will be judged with respect to their quality and relevance.
Proposals for sessions and tutorials are also invited. Papers should
