I just completed a search for an inexpensive personal stereo, using just about the same set of criteria (FM-stereo, cassette player, 2 headphone jacks, tone control) and came away with the J.C. Penney Surround Sound. It sells in the store for $129.95 (too much), sells by catalog for $99.95 (closer, but still a bit high), but is on sale 'till Christmas for $59.95! It has all the desired features, and sounds as good as competetive units. There's an additional feature (called Talkmic) that allows you to hear what's going on around you. You push a button on the unit, the volume drops to just barely audible, and a built-in conderser microphone is activated, with the signal it picks up output to the headphone jacks. I've used it in the office and it's strange, but effective. I'm quite happy with it, and can recommend it heartily. Couldn't find a better deal around here, and I looked everywhere.
