I am interested in purchasing a receiver and turntable to complete the upgrade of my stereo system. I recently bought a pair of Ohm Walsh 2 speakers, a JVC KDD30 cassette deck, and a Shure V15 Type V cartridge. I'm figuring on spending anywhere from $275 to $350 or so for a receiver and $150 to $250 for a turntable (discount, not list, prices). Constraints: receiver must have quartz digital tuning and at least 30 watts. No less than 5 FM memories. turntable must be fully automatic with REPEAT ability. prefer turntable that prevents stylus from being lowered on the platter unless there is a disc there. I've been considering: Receiver: Mitsubishi DA-R15 Sony VX5 or VX4 Onkyo TX-51 Hitachi 5001 or 4001 Optonica SA-5207 Turntable: Mitsubishi DP-EC8 Sony PPS-LX5 Optonica RP 4705 I liked the DA-R15, but am concerned about letter in June 1982 High Fidelity magazine that complains of having to use subsonic filter switch whenever he plays records or tapes made from his records. I'd appreciate any help or comments from those in netland. Thanks in advance, pyuxqq!ral (Ron Levenberg) Bells Labs, py2c-315, 6 Corporate Place, Piscataway, NJ 08816 201-981-6178
