I have a pair of 5 year old Micro Acoustics (FRM-1?) speakers. Due to the dry conditions which exist in my living room, and due to the age of the speakers, I am concerned about "dry rot". When I bought the speakers, the salesman (a friend of mine) told me that the life expectency was about ten years, and that I could protect against dry rot by rubbing mayonnaise on the speaker cones. I kind of laughed off his suggestion, but now that the speakers are getting older, I would like to ensure that they last as long as possible. Mayonnaise sounds like a great medium for smelly bacteria growth, but I don't have any reason not to trust the salesman. What about it, net.audio readers, is it a good way to protect speakers, or should I "hold the mayo"? Gary Johnston American Bell Lincroft, NJ hogpc!garyj P.S. No flames please! THIS IS NOT A JOKE!!!
