Keep the dust cover OFF while playing records. Quite often there is enough static charge in it to lift the arm right off the disc. If you don't believe me, try rubbing lightly (as though you were dusting) with a cloth on the cover while an album is playing. I bet you see the arm magically rise above the record. ihldt!dbg
