While we're on the subject of digital recordings (either CD's or digitally mastered conventional LP's) I'd like to add an observation I've made - those recordings made with the Soundstream system which is a 16 bit system with a 50 KHz sampling rate (which include Telarc and Delos recordings) sound better to me than most other digital recordings (including the old Denon PCM recordings - I never heard a Denon that sounded "right" to me). Most of the others use the EIAJ 44.1 KHz / 14 bit system and it appears that the two additional bits (giving 4x more resolution - 64K levels vs 16K) seem to make an audible difference. Comments?
