I hope this hasn't been reported here yet:
Hi Fidelity magazine reports that Sears has announced it will have a
CD player available by Christmas selling for about $585!!!!! It will
reportedly not have many of the programmable playing options of the
current CD players, in order to cut down on price.
Let the price wars begin!!!!! (I hope)
Of course the big question will be "Is it any good?". I ask anyone
on the net who sees a review of this unit to post a summary.
It might even behoove us to write to our favorite magazines stating
that we WANT the item reviewed. I would not be surprised to see such a unit
ignored, either because of the trade magazines' snobbery or from pressure
from audio's big guys who don't want it taken seriously.
On the other side of the coin, HF reviewed a new CD player that goes for
$1500, setting a new high for CD units.
