Dave, I'm afraid you and the other "Hirsch-Heads" on this Net are forever doomed to a Mid-Fi existence. You are so wrapped up in your calculators and spec sheets that you can't see the forest for the trees. Take time to really listen......with your ears.....not your head! Could you possibly concede that there is even the smallest chance that the audio group was right? Put your pad and pencil down and listen. If you "put up your antenna" you may well find that audio has progressed well past a $300 Pioneer receiver nd a Shure cartridge Can you feel the heat coming up again? J. K. Wray BTL-Naperville

Is this rayjay person a fake? "doomed to a mid-fi existance" "hirsh-heads" I can see that he/she/it's really trying hard to convince me. Of course, if I tell you which wires I'm using, and I tell you which cost most, I'll bet you'll pick ..... On the other hand, if I LIED(as far as which wires), would your answers change? See... I thought so! Please move the remains of this piece of emotionally laden superstitious rot to net.flame. Better yet, I don't feel like hacking it in net.flame, it's not as cosmic as universal handgun bans or nuclear war. Why not move it to net.dev.null? It's not even credible or reasonable enough to flame about. Unfortunately -- O o From the pyrolagnic keyboard of ~ rabbit!jj -v-v- \^_^/

Personally, I like to use #3-0. When my local hardware doesn't have it in stock, the 50 circular mil stuff works good, too. Works only on straight runs, though. It takes about a 12-inch radius to bend it. Once I thought of using a 2 X 4 copper bus bar like in the EM lab, but it kept ripping the final stage out of my amp when the temperature/humidity changed. If you really want to use enormous cable (like 3/0), buy welding cable from a welding supply store. The stuff is very flexible, unlike wiring intended for permanent installation. It makes great jumper cables for your car too. half seriously, Dave Martindale
