[net.audio] PA recommendations wanted

cly@cbdkc1.UUCP (10/11/83)

I'm in a 50's - 60's Rock and Roll band that is just starting
out. We want to buy a PA system that is small, light, cheap,
and good! Although this may sound impossible, I would like
to get as close to this ideal as I could.
We need something in the 100 watt range with at least
5 channels that could be transported in a compact car (or cars).
My inclination right now is toward Peavey equipment, but I would like
to get input from others. Any suggestions?

I am also in a band (mostly part time) and I use a Randall p.a.
system than I am very happy with. It uses a powered six channel
mixer and two collumn speakers. The mixer is six channels, high
and low Z inputs, built in equalizer, with 120 watts output into
four ohms and 180 watts into two ohms. The speakers are very
"clean" with two bass drivers, two midrange drivers, and two
Piezo ( I think that is spelled right) tweeters. New it cost
1300 dollars but there are used units available for less.

				good luck.
