...........Yes it's Rayjay and I'm as nuts as ever................ All this talk of cd/analog and power amp comparisons remind me of a comparison that was done by The Chicago Audio Society several years ago. Three power amps were wired into a switch box and the common associated equipment consisted of a Revox tape deck and an Apt Holman preamp. The speakers were IMF Model 80's. The three power amps were 1.) a pair of unmodified Marantz 8B's, 2.) Quad 405, 3.) Bryston 3B - which had just came out and was taking Chicago by storm. (Output levels were monitored and matched as well as possible) I found it interesting that out of the forty or so people in attendance, well over thirty picked the Marantz's as the best sounding units (fifties vintage and vacuum tubes and all). The Bryston had 7 or 8 votes for second place. Of course these units were known to us as 1, 2, or 3 only. What does this all mean?......I don't know......... J. K. Wray
