Recently, I snapped my fingers in front of an AKG 460B microphone that was connected to a Goldline 1/3-octave real time analyzer. (Peak hold mode, 3dB/div.) Not only were fundamentals of 2-3KHz produced, but also harmonics to 20KHz (limit of analyzer & microphone). This surprised me. But what was more surprising was that the 20KHz harmonic was only 12dB down from the fundamental! I'm sure that all sorts of natural occurrences have harmonics beyond audibility and that it may be one of the things that makes a stereo sound like a stereo and not the real thing. Phil Rastocny
