[net.audio] turntable sense

When operating your turntable, there are a feww common sense rules that
need to be adhered to for best results:

1) Don't have your speakers "pointing directly at" (I know it's not the
most scientific way to put it but you get the message - don't ya) the
    turntable.

2) Don't allow your eqpt cabinet to touch either of the speakers. This
    is really asking for it.

3) TAKE THE DUSTCOVER COMPLETELY OFF WHEN PLAYING (This is sometimes
hard to do cause it looks so "neato".

4) If you've got a 10x10 listening room you can't pump 200 watts per
channel into it. Did you ever hear that "You can't put 50 pounds of
sh*t in a 10 pound bag"? Same applies here.

5) Analyze your speaker system. Will they tolarate a bass-heavy cartidge?
Will your speakers tolerate a cartridge with a sizzling high end?
Cartidges will not work equally well in all tone arms. High
compliance cartridges need a lighter arm for optimum performance.

6) If you choose a moving coil cartridge and you need to buy a head amp
, are you aware that many of these units produce a very annoying hum
that is very hard to get rid of? Marcoff, QED, and several other less
expensive units are noisy. It "bugs the be-geebers" outa me.

Like I said, these are common sense considerations - right? I stubbed
my toes over every one of them. Duhhhh - Live & Loin.
