#N:hpcnoa:30200010:000:788 hpcnoa!rdg Jan 2 19:37:00 1984 RCA has recently come out with a number of albums which they call "legendary performers." The front cover looks like a paper bag with a giant postmark on it, and in the upper left hand corner of the album is the phrase: DIGITALLY REMASTERED ANALOG RECORDINGS Now, I can see why they'd want to digitally remaster a recording if it were to be put into CD form, but why the f--- would they do it for an LP??????????????????????????????????????????????? Does anybody know? Is it simply because they do intend to put these recordings onto CD's? Or does it have some beneficial effect on the sound of the LP? (I heard none; nor did I hear an degradation - they just sound like normal (ie, below average) RCA gold seal records. Comments? Rob Gardner {hpfcla,hp-pcd,csu-cs}!hpcnoa!rdg

No, it just has a beneficial effect on their sales figures when gullible 'audiophiles' rush to buy anything that says 'digital' on it. <exit sarcasm mode...> Berry Kercheval Zehntel Inc.
