[net.audio] More on dbx

A point of clarification about my dbx dynamic range comment:-
dbx gives you 50 dB of dynamic range improvement + headroom improvement.
Most people follow dbx's recommendation and set their recording levels to get
30-35 dB of dynamic range improvement + 15-20 dB of headroom expansion,
which is the best thing to do with most tape decks. IF you have a professional
open-reel deck that can take high (~0 dB level) high frequency signals without
overloading the tape, you can get more dynamic range by pushing the levels up,
but on most tape decks (especially cassette units) that's asking for disaster
to strike.
(thanks to Craig Dory for a very interesting discussion about recording levels
and recording in general).
