Regarding Oscar Nierstrass' comments on receiving "hummy" signals: What you are picking up is no doubt FM 2-way as you suspect. Since it is FM, what audio you detect would be minimal since you are esentially detecting it with a non-linear device acting as an AM detector. Sounds like their power supply is not that well filtered and the hum you hear is indeed AM modulation their carrier. If their power supply is not "stiff" or well regulated, there may be some incidental AM speech modulation of the carrier which you hear as low level voice. Find out who it is and how far away they are if possible. They may have faulty equipment but if they are close to you it may be difficult eliminating the signal, even if they clean it up. Bob, K9EUI
