[net.audio] simulsync or dubbing or Nakamichi?

jaf@houxj.UUCP (01/19/84)

I am looking for advice on the purchase of a new
tape deck. I currently own a NAD 6040 dolby B (hx) cassette
deck. My motivation for buying a new deck is three fold:

	1) The NAD has been plagued with intermittent problems.
Occasionally the right channel will drop out when recording,
which I fix by rerecording those cuts of the album (not a
practical solution when recording live music). Also,
sometimes the right channel looses its high frequency response
during play back. Since it doesn't do this consistantly,
I have not been able to repair it.

	2) I would like to get a dolby C deck. I have tried dolby C
tapes with my dolby B car sterio and found it tolerable.
Thus dolby C seems to be a good comprimise between DBX and
compatibility with my other tape equipment.

	3) I am a guitarist and would like to be able to build up tapes
of at least two tracks. I believe most dubbing decks allow you
to mix in a mike when recording from one drive to the other.

I have looked around and found that in my price range (less than $400)
none of TEACs simulsnyc decks (such as the 124) have anything other
than Dolby B. Also I have yet to see any dubbing deck with dolby C
(or DBX for that matter). Thus given a strong desire for a low noise
high quality tape deck I am left with the low end Nac which wont
satisfy my desire to build up tapes one channel at a time.

Any suggestions would be appretiated,

Thanks,	(please forgive my spelling in the above article)
