My sister has had a curious problem with her cassette deck that I hope the readers of this group can shed some light on. Recently, when she's attempted to play cassettes, they've been erased instead. This has happened enough times to rule out coincidence, or her accidentally pressing the RECORD button each time. My own guess is that static discharges (a serious problem in that room, according to my sister) are toggling the record latch when she touches the deck. The unit itself is a Hitachi with touch controls, and is about 15 months old. Comments? Suggestions?
